1. Boston: A stroll down Boston’s famed Newbury Street is a must for girlfriends looking to spend a little green. With shops including Chanel, Valentino and Marc Jacobs—and a charming brownstones backdrop—you really can’t go wrong.

2. Palm Springs: Don your polo shirt and embark on a golfing getaway! Palm Springs is home to an array of stunning courses, including the Arnold-Palmer-designed SilverRock course (the longest layout in Palm Springs).

3. Isla Mujeres, Mexico: A girls’ trip to a destination that means “Island of Women” is fate, right? The island is just 5 miles long, but provides plenty of shop-filled streets and fishing-village-charm—perfect for catching up with old (and new) friends.

4. Napa County: Wine and dine in Napa with your closest pals; the area boasts breathtaking views, vineyard tours and—of course—tons of tasting rooms.

5. London: Jaunt to London’s West End for a theatre-hopping girls’ getaway. The area is home to over 40 venues featuring dramas, comedies and more, so you’re sure to find something that appeals to everyone your group.

6. Nosara, Costa Rica: Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, the all-inclusive Surf Diva Costa Rica Surf Adventure camp combines women-only surfing lessons with al fresco yoga sessions and freshly-prepared meals.

7. Las Vegas: Head to the desert for a quintessential girls’ weekend. From award-winning spas to white-knuckle thrill rides to the country’s hottest nightclubs, Las Vegas has it all (just remember: what happens there doesn’t always stay there).

8. Vancouver: Skip the Big Apple and head to the “Manhattan with mountains” for a scenic shopping and sightseeing adventure. Downtown Vancouver is peppered with luxury shops, music venues and plenty of poutine.

9. Maui, Hawaii: Sometimes there’s nothing better than enjoying a beachside piña colada. Maui’s Kaanapali Beach offers plenty of oceanfront relaxation, along with scuba diving, snorkeling, shopping and people-watching.

10. Austin: A destination in itself, the Lake Austin Spa Resort in Austin comprises 19 waterfront acres, 3 pools and included activities like water yoga, tarot reading and poker. Oh, and did we mention the swoon-worthy LakeHouse Spa?

Water Views That Make You Say, “Whatta View!”

Share:

Working on SniqueAway hotels lately, we’ve come across some real doozies when it comes to water views. And we aren’t just talking about your average panoramic Caribbean horizon (not that there’s anything wrong with that). So, on this fine Monday we thought we’d share the wealth and call out some of the coolest water-focused views around the world. Feast your eyes on:

La Maltese Hotel: While it’s the most traditional of ocean views we’re featuring, there’s nothing boring about this cliffside, turquoise seascape. Ahhh, Santorini.

Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview: Inland North America doesn’t offer seaviews, but guests of the Marriott Fallsview find themselves perched on the edge of a natural wonder. This hotel sits closer to the falls than any other accommodations in the area.

Tikehau Pearl Resort: This place boasts panoramic overwater bungalows with glass-bottom viewing floors—no further explanation needed.

Poseidon Undersea Resort: Sure you’ve seen sunset ocean horizons, sprawling waterfall views and even 360-degree panoramas. But for the truly adventurous, check out the Poseidon for a fully underwater experience, aquarium-style viewing walls and all (taking reservations soon).

Feel Good, Look Good, Do Good

While writing about The Resort at the Mountain in Oregon’s Mt. Hood region, we were reminded of how important it is to be kind to the environment and those who call it home. The resort recently welcomed 11,000 indigenous plants to its grounds and helps re-establish fish habitats in its spare time. Even its 27-hole golf course is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Though we can’t all be as eco-friendly as this place, we can do our part. In honor of next week’s Valentine’s Day, we’ve rounded up a few eco-friendly finds—perfect for spreading love to significant others, yourself and important causes!

Made from 100% pure argan oil grown in Morocco, Josie Maran’s organic, vegan moisturizing oil is perfect for your face, hands … even split ends!

You probably already knew this, but for every pair of Toms purchased, the shoe company gives one pair of shoes to a child in need. Chic and charitable.

Indulge in chocolate and a cause with Endangered Species Chocolate’s Valentine’s Day varieties (we recommend the delectable mix of dark-chocolate-covered cranberries and almonds).

The sustainable brand Blue Avocado recently joined forces with Lauren Conrad to create a fun, eco-friendly (and wallet-friendly!) line of storage accessories made from recycled plastic bottles.

European Vibes this Side of the Pond

Writing about Hotel Metro in London (Ontario, not England) got us thinking. How many cities in North America bear the same name as major counterparts in Europe, and what are they like? So read below for the fruits of our research labor and learn a little bit about why you should visit these famous cities on this side of the Atlantic.

European Cities

London, ON:

While it’s no UK capital, this central Canadian staple offers plenty in the way of hip nightlife and upscale dining. Head over to Victoria Park for 15 acres of public art and festival space and Grab French-bistro-style seafood at David’s Bistro for a vibrant evening that’s decidedly “European.”

Berlin, NH:

Nestled just north of the White Mountains, New Hampshire’s Berlin presents its own alpine vibes for vacationers. Restaurant-goers enjoy home-cooked specialties from local farmers and adventurers can take advantage of the renowned Granite State outdoors (with tour companies to match).

Paris, TX:

In Northeastern Texas lies a real homage to France with landmark replicas and its own bustling downtown. Of course, there’s nothing like some historical southern architecture and range-sourced rustic food to remind visitors they’re in the in the Wild West.

St. Petersburg, FL:

Sitting on Florida’s western coast sits this European-named city with all the flavor one would expect of the Gulf Coast. With culinary influence the world over, this place all but begs diners to sample daily caught seafood at restaurants owned by transplants from Italy, France, Spain and more.
